The leader of Turkey’s main opposition party, who is attending a meeting of the Socialist International in the French capital of Paris, will join Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou; Martine Aubry, first secretary of the Socialist Party of France; representatives of France’s Turkish community on Monday. Kılıçdaroğlu is expected to give a speech on the global economy. On Tuesday, he will meet Segolene Royal, a prominent member of the French Socialist Party; Pierre Moscovici, deputy of Doubs; Jean-François Copé, president of the UMP group at the French Assembly; Michel Diefenbacher, president of the France-Turkey group at the Assembly and deputy of Lot-et-Garonne. Finally, on Wednesday, Kılıçdaroğlu is scheduled to meet with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, and Jacques Blanc, president of the France-Turkey group in the Senate.
Aside from his official appointments, the opposition leader is expected to visit the Pere Lachaise cemetery where Turkish cinema actor Yılmaz Güney and musician Ahmet Kaya are buried, which is commented as one of the most important indicators of the transformation process in the CHP under Kılıçdaroğlu’s leadership.Kader Sevinc
