– Referring to the NATO summit and missile defense system, Republican People’s Party, or CHP, leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu criticized the pro-government media for presenting the NATO summit as a success for the AKP. Also, Kılıçdaroğlu recalled Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s remarks that Turkey perceived no threat from either its neighbors or from NATO and questioned why Turkey was thus being considered as a base for the proposed shield. He said it was normal for Iran’s name not to be in the document as no name was mentioned in NATO documents. “The aim [of the Strategic Concept] is to control Iran’s nuclear and ballistic system. We voice this fact and Iran, too, knows it,” Kılıçdaroğlu said.
